Stories such as that usually end with a line like "A police spokesperson stated that alcohol may have been involved in the incident."

Sir, I am sorry that our $100,000,000 security system was breached by a stranded jet flea operator. We will get on the repairs immediately, sir!

I grew up boating not far from there but a long time ago (as a teen) prior to fences and "high security".

We would routinely beach our boats to see the jets take off and land directly above us.

The guys sole mistake was not waiting for security to drive by and ask for assistance........he was frustrated and impatient.

There used to be excellent crabbing in that area during the late 60's.

"The Port Authority took immediate action to increase its 24/7 police presence..........................."

I wonder what they are going to increase it to??:confused:

What gets me about this story is that they ARRESTED the guy for trespassing!!!!
They should be rewarding him for proving the system doesn't work!

I can't believe they arrested him.
I don't find that so hard to believe. However, I'd like to hear the explanation of how "near death" he needed to be before they'd NOT arrest him ...

Re: Life?s a Breach: Jet Skier Evades JFK Airport?s Security System

"We have called for an expedited review of the incident and a complete investigation to determine how Raytheon's perimeter intrusion detection system -- which exceeds federal requirements -- could be improved. Our goal is to keep the region's airports safe and secure at all times."

FAIL! Hows about hittin the powah switch on that fenceCam Eddie!

Wonder if the jet-skiier will find an opportunity to counter-sue. Seems like an appropriate situation...the fence was supposed to, and designed to keep him out, but it didn't. I agree not sure why he was arrested when his motive was simply "reaching land in an emergency water-way situation".

Not sure crossing runways is much safer then floating around in a river...but he had to choose.

They had to arrest him, if they didn't then they would have to admit total failure. At least now they can say "we have captured the intruder."

Somehow I think the title to this thread is somewhat inappropriate...
I don't particularly like PWC's but in this case, I think it's the airport security people that are brain-dead and has absolutely nothing to do with PWC's.
Just my 2cents.

Ha, if he'd walked up and said "hi, I work for TSA and your security has just been breached" he been given the red carpet treatment.

Yeah, I am starting to think so as well. My first thoughts were that he was out on a PWC in the dark . . . Now I understand he ran out of fuel, which seems to be a problem as well. And finally, to be honest, I was looking for an attention grabber
