Re: it has began

The links don't work. The pages are only valid for your account to be able to add/change the pictures you have posted there. Nobody else can see them without logging in as you.

Get it to show 'public view', or however they do it so everyone else can view them. I had the same trouble with mine on Snapshots. Tinker with it a minute, and you'll see how the link has to be changed for the public page.

Ed.

Saw the pics just fine. Good luck. She's a nice look'n boat. Back in the early eighties I used to go out on my buddies Sea Ray. It was the same model. We had a ton of fun on that boat.

Very good sir. It works.

The only thing I could possibly recomend is that during your re-fit, you leave enough room under your new engine hood for the belt driven Super Charger, Nitrous tank, and 'drag' pipes.

Other than that,,,,,,,,
Gosh its great to see folks putting V-8s in boats again.

-
Plus, get a haircut and some cowboy boots so folks don't think you're some sort of hippie.

Har, har, har,,,,

Ed.

Seriously,
That's a great project. I'm proud and envious of you for building it.

And when its done, there is nothing like looking over your shoulder as it goes into 'FWD', and seeing the water 'boil' behind the prop during that first second, as you pull away from the dock.

Yeah my hair was getting kind of long in that pic. Thanks for the kind comments on the boat. I also like the curves of it, and the fact that it is a v8. Another plus for me is that its a 76 same as me.

A '76!!
You shouldn't be doing all that work on a '76.

I think you have a warranty claim there bro.

I'd write some nasty letters and wait for the checks to arrive.

But, if that doesn't work out,,,,,
you and the boat are new enough that ya both have many happy years to look forward to together.

Ed.

Finished up removing all of the wet foam today, and just had to say how heavy it was. Removed eight trash pages per side of foam, weighing around 50 pounds a piece.

I don't know how I missed this, gaztwo. My project pales in comparison to yours. Fortunately my stringers were mahogany and stood up well. I only had to reinforce one of them and did not have to cut the floor clear to the hull. It looks like you did motor work insitu, then pulled the motor after?

How's the project coming? Do you have current pictures?

Nice lines on the boat, looks like it will ride nicely through the chop and be able to get up and go with that V8.
I do have a question though concerning the transom. Why is the replacement wood only doubled at the cutout for the outdrive and not all the way across? Was the original done this way or was this done because of some nessecity that I can't see?

Re: it has began

Boomyal, the boat was a ebay special. The engine was locked up, ended up being a stuck piston, and no interior. When I took the engine apart and cleaned it up I was amazed at how new it looked, still has the crosshacthings on the cylinder walls. So I got the engine running then I saw a pic of another srv that had a ski locker in it. I then noticed on my boat drywall screws running horizontal across the boat to hood the floor down. I cut a few holes through the floor and thats when real adventure began. I figured I might as well do it right so I decided to yank the engine, I know its kind of #@$ backwards.

WAllbanger thats the way it came from searay. I notice that most of the wood I have repalced is only there to provide a frame for the fiberglass. That boat is pure fiberglass and thick. I just finished fiberglassing the transom and the engine cradle in, need to up load the pics, the old fiberglass I cut out to get the transom in was 3/8 inch thick and where the engine sits was up to a half inch thick in places. It has been somewhat of a pain to match the thickness, but using 24 oz roving has help.
Thanks for looking, I post some more pics soon.
