Well it finally happened. The little bugger next door was caught shoplifting at the ripe old age of 9.

For a little background, the neighbors moved in 4/5 years ago. My son has been searching him as he leaves due to his sticky fingers. Unfortunately he is the only kid in the neighborhood who is my sons age.

The Dad always shrugs and says "Well thats my son.". The kid will get grounded until he gets on his parents nerves and then he is free again. After getting caught shoplifting he was really, really in trouble, grounded for a day.

My wife has been telling me for years that I am just mean by saying that if he keeps it up he will end up in the crossbar motel. I think the kid is ahead of even my predictions.

Re: It finally happened.

Sounds like deficient parents. Sad, as the kid is calling out for guidance. Kids as possessions like a fancy car or a big house. Sad....

Sounds like the mrs. is behind the eightball on this one Twidget. Please tell her I said so. It has been, historically the womens job to uphold our high standards. Seems like you have had to jump in and fill the vacuum here.

Re: It finally happened.

My younger half brother had very sticky fingers. He swiped anything that wasn't tied down. Then he picked up a pair of $20s that were on the counter at the Sport Shop while he thought the clerk wasn't looking. WRONG!! ($20 was a LOT of money in the 40s.) He was about 10.

The clerk called Mom to come get him. Mom took him to the police station, where Chief Newton locked him up and kept him overnight. He was scared to near unconsciousness, and never got caught again. I think it was because he quit, but I know he never got caught again.

Evaluating risk and payoff requires a realistic understanding of risk. Withholding consequences ensures an unrealistic understanding of risk.

I agree about the parents. The mom seems to be very hands off with the kids. She comes home from work and they are all kicked out of the house and end up at various neighbor houses.

This kid has started a fire in their house and been caught stealing from his mother(just happened to be $20)

He finally figured out that I dont play the nice after you screw up in my house game. I revoked his visiting priveleges for a couple of months this winter. That translated to him having no where to go when his mom got home and he had to vacate the house for a few hours while she rested from work.

Then when kids like that get together, a gang is born. Those parents then ask "How does that happen?" Of course then there are some parents that don't care at all. Children from that kind of family tends to carry on the cycle. What a shame.

This type of activity is usually a cry for attention.

Parents dont give him any.

The 8 yr old down the street filled his moms car gas tank up with the water hose. It was his third time to do it.

Parents let him wander the streets, never cared where he was or what he was doing.

Ken

And then when and if he gets abducted, his parents won't even have a clue. They probably don't even have an up to date pic of him either. Sad situation for sure.

Ken, maybe a call to childrens services would be beneficial in this case.

Re: It finally happened.

This was the old house, we have since moved. They also moved right after we did.

The other kids were messed up too. The 13 yr old girl was banned from going into the neighbors yard cause she was aggressivly pursuing their 13 yr old son. She was determined to be pregnant ASAP.

The 15 yr old never went to school. Sad part is, he was really a nice kid and smart too. Just 100% lazy in regards to school. I paid him to help me move, good worker.

Parents just dont give a crap. I think they were getting a divorce cause one of them was cheating.

To sum it up, they were 100% white trash.

Felt real sorry for the kids. Wife tried to lecture the girl to straigten her out. I talked to the other kids trying to get them better. But in the end the parents were hopeless.

I forgot to mention the whole familiy was chain smokers, I think even the 8 yr old smoked some. Wife went in the house once and thought she smelled pot.

Ken
