Sacrificial anodes??
The large oval one that goes on the boat body. Should it be in direct contact with the aluminum on the transom or should it be primed and painted behind it?

Hello Remington,

Funny ...I am restoring the exact same boat as you have posted here. Transom,floor and other wood areas are rotten. Took all of the surrounding trim and aluminum off today in prep for the Transom removal. Have not removed engine yet. How are you coming along on your project ? I'm not looking forward to pulling the engine/outdrive. Do we need an alignment tool to re-install the engine/OD ? BTW my anode was installed same as yours, also I would have thought that it needed to contact the aluminum also, but maybe theres more to it than that..I did notice the SS screws going THROUGH the anode were reduced by corrosion. Also... I have access to an online parts/diagrams manual, let me know what you need.

kelly you could still use that system that he did with engine removal,just let the air out of your tires in the rear when you want to drop the engine down,seriously.you will drop pretty close to the ground then.I work on cars for a living so I know a few tricks here and there for getting easier access to lifted trucks.
