Is this normal? 1998 Johnson 115 RPMs

I just installed a new engine tach because the old one was blown. My Johnson 115 idles at about 1100 rpms on the trailer. When I ease the throttle forward in neutral the tach drops to about 800 rpms for a moment before rising? I know it is a false reading because I can hear an increase in rpms before the tach reading drops.

I ordered teleflex red dome because that is the guages my boat has. The place I ordered it from no longer carries that brand but had a brand called Mar Pac that looked just like the teleflex tach. The parts guy claimed they are made by teleflex but I don't know about that. I actually tried to order it from Iboats but they listed the teleflex red dome tach as out of stock. Anyway just wondering if it was normal or a problem with the way I hooked it up? I mean it really doesn't bother me.
