Is this article true? I have had pretty good luck with Force motors.

This article makes Force look like an antiquated company with engines that quickly detonate to destruction. I've never had any trouble with the mechanics (moving metal parts) in my force engines. Have I just been lucky?

Well, Force engines are simply designed and easy to maintain as long as you have gained the experience and knowledge to do so. For modern mechanics, Force/Chrysler engines are a nightmare because Force/Chrysler are full manual with very little electronics except maybe for the CD Modules and Ignition Coils. Troubleshooting 'em requires mechanical and electrical knowledge and at least a working principle of the motors. Modern Mechanics are so used to just plugging in a code reader and hopefully shows the code that's causing the problem.

Unfortunately, Chrysler and Force will always be regarded as junk motors by the majority of folks out there.....which is a good thing if you like them, you can buy a parts motor pretty cheap, or even one in running condition if you look around. I can usually count on getting some comments at the boat ramp or gas station, some good/bad....but mostly they want to look at it because they have never seen one before. Lol

Rubbish.
I have owned 4 85s 2 125s and 1 120
The mechanical end was very dependable. The oil used as a mix for the fuel was the DEATH of many 2 stroke motors. The ash(?) was a huge problem causing the rings to carbon and seize. Then they got smart and introduced TCW-3 and those problems stopped.
The ignition was just as good as the equipment found on OMC, Mercury and Yamaha used at the same time.
In fact the big 3(now the big 2) used more and more sensors and things that failed too often.
The OMC company used some of the most ridiculous things to make their motors better, they got so good they went out of business too.
I would buy another Force anyday.
