It's a '92What year is the boat? Don't let the cheap price suck you in. If the boat is old, you are likely looking at rot below the floor and in the transom. Not to mention a motor that doesn't work and a questionable drive. If you go for it, do it with eyes open and be prepared to spend thousands more to get in shape for using.
Yep, that can be done. I did the same a few years ago with my boat. Just realize what you are getting into, its a fair bit of work and money involved, depending on the condition of the transom and other structures. Some people say doing such a refit throws off the balance of the boat with the different weight distribution. I can only speak for myself, and I've had no regrets. It's a '92
I know the floors in them & I own a '90 bayliner Capri O/B and is waterlogged to a point the the mushrooms are coming through the carpet.
(hence the shopping for a boat)
I was thinking.......... if I can't get the motor going; to strip it from it's existing motor/outdrive & retrofit the rear to hang a 90 Hp Force (have two)
to have a boat for next season.
Thanks, my thoughts also (except the 115 HP want to use the spare 90 HP i have)Take that piece of junk out.----Rebuild the transom and hang a 115 HP outboard on it.
It may in some cases however in this case I doubt it, judging by the bottom-shellSome people say doing such a refit throws off the balance of the boat with the different weight distribution. I can only speak for myself, and I've had no regrets.
The same goes for the Jet-boats that had the 90 HP & 120 Force engines, the splines on the crank-shafts are different. The spline in the crank shaft at the 125Hp did not fit to the L-drive drive shaft!!
lol A 40 HP ??? I don't think is going to move very wellI can't believe this set-up won awards for innovation.----Simple is best out on the water.-----Put a 40 hp on it if you do not have 115 hp.
Sorry, I thought I mentioned it in previous post but yeah I scored that one a couple years ago for cheap ($250 for two) stripped one & sold off the rest in parts. When I suggested 115 HP I had no idea that you have a 90 HP in tip top shape ready to bolt on !
