I saw this in a newspaper from Manitoba. Sorry the resoulution is so poor. The caption says ice gators but the article says it is a 45 inch northern. So what is it a muskie or a northern

Nope, not me. I only catch "snakes" by accident when fishing for musky.

The ice is 18" as of sunday.
It looks ike all those trucks parked together
could cause a problem with the ice, but we are
parked on a shoal that is frozen all the way
through. Only about 20" deep.

so u have to chop the fish outa the ice? LOL
seems the ice would actually be insulation in a
way... what is water temp u fish?
sure don't need any coolers eh? :D
my wife (3rd gen calif.) has been whining about
the warm temps here. was close to 60 yesterday.
son was complaining he couldn't snowboard on his
school vac... will remind them come march when
it's been frozen for 3 months :p

We are fishing in 3 to 4 feet of water MY.
The water surface temperature is around 35 deg
but I did not check it so its just a guess.
I have to put every thing in coolers to help
keep it from freezing. Its a lot of fun as long
as you stay warm.
Heres another picture of a friend putting on a
small fishing clinic.

Remind me next year Eurolarva when we hook up to fish that I owe you one..Nice fish NoSleep..For some reason alot of Northerns with size are caught on the ice in the winter..

But for me and my old bones its a shack, with in side temps of at least 70 plus..Add a card table and a generator and i am there..
Re: Is this a Gator

Ya that was a descent pike Gonfishn ,14 lbs.
This lake is a man made reservoir, only about
25 years old. It has an unbelievable amount of
baitfish, whitefish, perch and a few walleye.
Because it is an irrigation reservoir and not
a natural lake, I have no problem with harvesting
any of the big pike that I catch. And in all the
years that I have fished it the pike just keep
getting bigger.
