I am prompted by the geraldo thread to ask this question. Which newscaster and what news report or organization do you regard for its credibility and unbias news reporting?

I prefer news reports that are not overly editorialised, therefore my choice is Jim Leher on the news hour.

Try the weekly world news. I have never seen any of their stories that were not worth reading.

NPR - Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

Sure they list a bit to port, but it's as good as it gets. Thorough at least you don't get just sound bites or sensationalism.

That and Weekend Update on SNL.

If you do your homework and use alternative media to find out what is happening in the world, then look at what most media (cnn, npr, washington post, new york times, etc.) does NOT report, you will get a clearer view on just how biased the news is. Furthermore, if you investigate some of the headlines and the sources the "big guy's" use, more often than not, you will find that they totally ignore what the majority of experts say. For the most part, the media is spoon feeding you exactly what they want you to hear.

I like the News Hour with Jim Lehrer for getting both sides of a story, but they still pick the stories with a port list.

Actually, if you understand some of the Spanish network world news is actually not bad either way. I have trouble with any news especially when someone speaks and then a news reader gets to tell me what was said.

News would be great if they would get back to reporting the news rather than making it up as they go.

Not just news, did you listen to the commentators on last nights national championship game.

TXS, we agree-AGAIN!

Unfortunately, a growing percentage of the population is not able to grasp 1+1=2, much less a news report. :(

Ditto. Or if your speak German or Italian, they have better news coverage of US events than we do. Italy’s news coverage of mid-East events is not skewed toward Israel the way it is in the US.

To get a balanced view of any issue or event you need to read both sides and treat it with a heavy dose of common sense, like Heycods suggests. I get the official newsletter of the communists, the People’s World Weekly, in my mailbox every Friday. Gotta wade thru a bunch of boring b.s. but every once in awhile (ok, rarely) they bring up some good stuff from a diff perspective that isn’t covered by the alphabet news.

World news mostly BBC. National news CNN then sift thru the Sxxx and use the noggin. Our local news is pretty good.

18R, Wish I spoke those other languages, amazing how others see the world.

treedancer, our local news is good also, there was a grass fire last nite out by the ole dance hall. yeah we are still small town.

News is like the weather report, Listen, Watch, then go outside and see what the weather is like.

DJ, This is the last I wish for us to agree upon for a long time, but would it be nice to just hear an unbiased opinion from either side of the news.

No, there is no such thing as fair and ballanced news reporting. It is targeted product, packaged accordingly.

Whoever regards the Daily Show or SNL as a news source needs to go back to playing with his dolls.
