Have you tried wet sanding or abrasive pastes yet? Both work well for restoring old faded boat paint.

Yup, try a restoring boat compound/wax. If that doesn't work, wet sanding. Plenty of threads here about restoring gelcoat.

I had a pro go at my very faded hull and it looks much better now. She used a high speed polisher to cut the the gelcoat and remove the oxidization. To do it again I'd have her wax it right away (I had to store it for a month and it lost some of it's luster before I could wax it).
