And severely irritates everyone else around you!Handles higher horse power much better, sounds slick.
I dunno where the previous posters are from but around here (the South) everybody loves thru-hull. I think it's badass and I get a lot more annoyed at a motorcycle downtown than a loud boat on an open lake.
There is not a much better sound than a boat with a nice sounding thru hull exhaust.
yeah, and I would venture to guess that's 400+ HP isn't it?No advantage till you're making some pretty big power.
Wrong, you can get a WHOLE lot of performance without thru hullsGetting back to the original post yes there is definitely an advantage to through transom exhaust. If you plan on increasing performance of your boat that is one of the first things that is a must. If you try other things like carbs, intakes, cams, ignition systems your just wasting your time and money with out improving your exhaust. None of those will work with out improving exhaust. If there is any one thing that improves performance it's exhaust.
I'm from the mid west and run on the Mississippi. We love our open exhaust boats around here. We don't care what the old ladies up north have to say. Nothing like an afternoon of river racing. Nothing like the sound of a big block singin through open exhaust as your cruisin up the river past all the kiddy boats.

I see all these posts with replacing and fixing exhaust bellows. I have a through transom exhaust and was just wondering. If its better then Im glad!! I have the captains choice as well..
I think you're right. Exhaust restriction doesn't really make a HUGE difference until you start moving a lot of exhaust. I think this means you have to have a LOT of cu-inches.
It didn't really make any difference with 460.

Old ladies? Nice post, I bet you're a young boy with daddies boat in your pics LOL.
