They seem to advertise it as glass, but before I try to clean off some paint overspray that it gathered sometime in the past it would be good to know what its made of.

Depends on the year of the boat... Taylor Made has been around for a long time doing this. I have a 1966 Starcraft Holiday 14 that has a Taylor Made windshield, advertised as glass on the Taylor Made sticker but it is very obviously a curved acrylic bubble windshield from when those were popular.

If you think it's glass, it's probably glass though

Most likely glass, however some low end boats may have had acrylic

It's the 95 sea ray. I just didn't want to take a razor blade to it if it's not glass.
Most likely the paint is 2 part epoxy picked up in a boat yard somewhere. It's not too bad but you can feel it, I'll pick an inconspicuous spot and experiment. Probably try some spirits first and maybe some acetone and try and soften it up a bit, If I'm lucky it's a few years old and de-graded some like the rest of the boat.

I used a razor blade and some windex and it worked out fine. The windshield is indeed tempered safety glass and it's nice and smooth now..
