Late 80s Bayliners had an interesting coating they used to supposedly make their plywood waterproof under their carpet. Only problem was that they missed a few spots here and there and the stuff that did make it on cracked!

no, if they were made to get wet, they wouldn't have carpeting at all--and then you don't need covers, shop vacs, hair dryers, mold killers, drying rags and replacement floors. But...boats get wet.

take out the carpet and leave it in the den where it belongs. You don't put carpet around your pool, do you?

I agree but I like the carpet on the decks as it comfortable. My seats have cracked vinyl from the sun so maybe I should change them out to the nice hard plastic ones with no cushions as they will never wear out that way. :)

Im amazed nobody has mentioned snap in carpet. best of both worlds.

I have snap in carpet for my boat's fiberglass deck. Have never used it once.
