Is my tension spring pin wrong relative to economizer collar?

73 merc 1150, inline 6. Please compare my pic and let me know if you think the pin, relative to the economizer collar, appears to be wrong. I'm suspecting it may be. Should the pin be clockwise and slotted in the economizer there. I see some evidence/marking on the collar where the pin may have been before installing the new trigger. Just can't be sure and hope someone can post a comparable pic or use their experience to comment. When trying to link and sync, can't get any rotation of collar to engage secondary pickup to open carbs fully. Really appreciate any reply!

I had old hard grease in my adaptor and pilot, basically the same thing as an ecomomizer. Until I tore it apart and cleaned the old crud and re-lubed, the thing was extremely stiff and had the same symptoms as yours. Something to check.

thanks for pic and old lube heads up. Ended up taking a mid-day road trip to marine mechanic who kindly explored his boneyard for examples to view. Indeed, I've assembled the collar/adapter about 20 degrees off. Pin in my pics should be clockwise a bit. A word to the new trigger installers, take 360 pics of old one. Just a delay, at least I've learned to take it off the motor, dis-assemble and re-assemble. Should go more quickly this time.
