I am still not 100% sure that my switch box on my 1983 Mercury 2 cyclender is bad that is making it fire on the number 2 plug only. I have been told it has to be the switch box as when I change the wires on the coils number 2 stops firing and number one starts. However my issues is that I have also left the non firing number 1 wire the way it supposed to be from the switch box to the coil and taken the firing number 2 wire of the number 2 coil and then the non firing number 1 starts firing. I can also take the firing number 2 wire that runs to the coil off of the switch box and agian the non firing number 1 starts firing. Either plug will fire as long as they are not connected at the same time. Does this mean the switch box is ok as it will fire on either side as long as they are not connected at the same time?
My concern is the switch box is ok it is just not getting enough power to fire both plugs at the same time and my problem be the Stater. I just this still mean the switch box is bad and just want switch as intened when both coils are wired at the same time? I do not have a DVA or ohm meter to check as stated I my earlier post and thanks for all the info.
i just want to get any thoughts on what my concern is before ordering a new switch box. Thanks for everyone's help!!!
