Anyone interested in a group trip to Powell this summer? I'd like to head out early-mid july.

Uhhhhh, mid-july?! You better bring a new layer of skin, cuz yours will curl up like pig rinds in the sun!

I would like to go in on a trip... it would be fun to go with someone who knows the lake, like DR.

Hi guys, I would love to go along on a trip like that. The only time that I could be assured something wouldn't pop up with work would be Labor Day. Sounds like that's too late for you guys though. Although September is a wonderful month in Arizona in the high country. If you pick another day, I'll try but I'll never know for sure til that week if I can go. Work sucks you know it. I need to make a livin' out of boatin' :D

This looks like it will be difficult to arrange for us this year. The admiral is a school teacher so it is next to impossible for her to get time off other than the summer.
However, it sounds like the summer is VERY HOT and uncomfortable there. I would like to go in Sept as suggested, but she doesn't get paid all summer and we need her to work to catch up in Sept. Humm.

Hot yes, but not as bad as Mead or Havasu at the same time of year. Many go to Powell because the lower lakes are too hot . . . ;)

Our trip to Lake Powell was great! We had three wonderful days on the water. Launching from the Antelope Pt. public ramp was so easy. Not alot of boat traffic on the lake this time of year either! We wanted to go to West Canyon like you suggested, but wound up in Face Canyon, then it was getting late so we didn't get to go any farther. We also went into Antelope, Navajo and Labyrinth (my favorite so far) canyons, all around Warm Creek and Padre Bay and the little bay next to Gunsite Butte. Hopefully we can get back up there in fall - and next time we will start with West Canyon!

There's Navajo Canyon of course, but it's always really busy. Labyrinth canyon isn't too far. My favorite by far on that end of the lake is West though. Navigable slot canyon. Hiking opportunities. Incredible scenery. Not too many camp spots in the canyon, but there's plenty along the lake shore outside the canyon. Watch the submerged rocks near the entrance, but once you in, it's smooth, clear sailing. The water is crystal clear there so you will be able to see the rock easily, just take it slow. Good luck and have fun! :)
