Is it okay to (post glassing deck cleaning question)

Is it okay to hose down the engine, bilge area, everything... Just wash all the grinding debris, dust and crap out the drain? Should I be concerned about wiring harness, trim pump, or any thing else? I basically want to hose out the entire boat... (I will cover the carb) Any recommended general purpose cleaner/degreaser for engine and bilge? Simple green?

Obviously my effort at covering the engine did not work well...

I do it every spring. I use Gunk. Depending on the age and condition of everything, it is not impossible to have a problem or two afterwards. Avoid direct contact with the distributor. Even better, put a plastic bag over it as well as the carb.

Try some S100 Motorcycle cleaner ....WOW is it good stuff and will not hurt wires and stuff. You spray it on and hose it off and it does a great job. I have used it on motorcycles, atvs and car engines.
