is it ok to gelcoat the interior if a steel yacht

i am restoring a 50ft steel cruiser an am thinking i would like to gelcoat the whole interior does anyone know if this is a good idea or not

Gelcoat is a Polyester resin product and NOT suitable for Metal Boats. It might Stick for a while but over time it will crack and peel off. You be better served to Powder Coat it or Paint it.

you would be best served to use a 2-part marine paint, like Awl Grip or Axalta (Dupont Imron)
