I'm pretty sure Europe generally has tighter rules and restrictions regarding drivers licenses and testing. That said, statistically (at least in Major Canadian centres) this does not translate into them being better drivers...again, at least in Canada. They are typically higher in claims regarding accidents, damage, etc according to the insurance companies.
Now, they are some new statistics coming out regarding young drivers (habits/history) and lo and behold...if you want to shorten your kids/teens life, get them a cell phone before the age of 17 AND allow them to drive. The majority of people caught in some the 'texting while driving' crackdowns around these parts are not surprisingly teens (particularly girls) and women....interesting trend.;)

Cells phone use while driving should be classified the same as driving while intoxicated....impaired is impaired no matter what the cause

I agree 1000% Speaking of cell phone use this happened yesterday. The corner of my yard is across from the entrance of another street. I looked out the window to see this large suv making a big u turn through the intersection and it ran up on my grass about 3 feet to complete the turn. It was a woman with a cell phone in her hand. I quickly went and put a big steal pipe in the yard so the next driver that does this without looking will for sure have some sort of problem when they run over the pipe. This soccer mom needs to be sent to driving school but the next suv WILL be sent to the chassis /tire shop . I dont like having to go this far but its the only solution. PUT DOWN THE PHONE AND DRIVE BEEEEEEICH!

UPdate.. Local man (charlotte nc) given a one year jail sentence after he crossed the center line while TEXTING hitting another car head on and killed the father of several young kids .They say he will not be allowed to drive for 15 years after he gets out of jail.....With good behavior the SOB will more than likely never serve the entire year... This is our system at its best...GOD help us

Up until a few years ago Oregon driver's lisc were not a valid form of ID in many states. You'd just walk up to dmv with a letter say a utility bill..no other form of ID...and poof your recieved a pictured id valid DL...

and this is a classic example of why we in the northeast (New England) do NOT recognize any drivers license from many states save ours ...........god , we need UNIFORM laws across ALL the states, not just SOME!!!!!!!!!!

if i explained to you what i went through for my Class A License, my TWIC card, DHS clearance, and my MCSC, you would carp your pants............suffice to say it took like 2 years TOTAL time ..............

and all that so i can deliver at Logan Airport and our local bases...............
