I noticed that Lowe's has 3m Resin in quart and gallon containers. I've never used it and I'm at that stage of gathering matrials for my boat project. I the 3m resin any good? It appears to be a polyester resin goint by some O'reily's auto parts report.
I would like to use it since it's readily available and I wouldn't have to pay for shipping.

Nope, for what you are going to be doing you need quality resin and glass. The Lowes stuff has to many draw backs and is Way to expensive for the quantities you will be needing. For transom, stingers and deck you're gunna need 10 gallons minimum. Check out www.uscomposites.com Their 435 resin is good stuff less than $25 a gallon in quantities of 5 gals or more. Shipping can be an issue but being in Alabama it should not be to much.
