Re: Is 18 ft Too Small For The Great Lakes???
My 19' bowrider was scary in 2-3' waves on Lake Erie several weeks ago. The forecast was sunny with some light winds and small craft warnings in the AM but the waves were 1-3' out beyond the bay at Ashtabula. We tried outside the bay walls once after the warning was discontinued but the close timing of the swells even at 2-3' weren't fun. My boat does not have the bowcover so with the spray hitting us and the troughs we decided to head back. Too bad...those with a little bigger boat or cuddys went 5 mi offshore and limited out on walleyes that day. Better to be safe...
