My math is not the best ,I calculate it is a 15 year old boat, not 24, that was apparently coverd quite well,3 tarps.
The main bellows is the rubber accordian style part that covers the drive shaft on the out drive. There is also a smaller one for the shift cable again between the outer transom and outdrive.

Oooops my bad on the math.... guess in my mind I read 86....

Thought I'd give an update on how things are going with the boat!

It's Alive!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u68wmhPq8Sk

I have learned that I wasn't supposed to have the drive up when the motor is running. I only had it running for about 2 minutes, so hopefully didn't mess anything up!

I also did some shopping finally!! :D

I am shopping ins spurts. That way I don't have a lot of money going out in one week. Going to spread the love for a few weeks! LOL

I personally think people are a little over scairdy, cat scaridy cat when it comes to running the boat w the drive up. I beach my boat all the time and when i am nearing shore I often raise the drive well past the trim limit switch, and in gear, BUT RPMs no more then 900-1000 maybe.!!!! Just had the drive in the shop for an unrelated issue and the 15 yr old u joints were fine! Id rather run wiyh the drive up for 10-15 sec then smash prop/skeg into the bottom.. J M H O !!! Repeat !!! Low RPMs ! No load ! Sharp lookn boat BTW and a great starter boat. Heck the trailer is worth dang near what you paid for it Party on !:);):D:D:D

How cool!! Congrats on your 'new to you' boat!

I haven't done the DMV thing yet. Kind of dreading that part. A friend of mine is supposed to wait a week to see if DMV sends her the tags for her car, if they don't she will need to go to DMV. I figure I will wait to see if she has to go, then we can go together. I have to register mine with lien papers and sometimes that can be a pain, specially if the DMV clerk is not familiar with them.

We plan on going to Folsom Lake too. We have some more work to do on the boat before it is ready to go though. Not sure when we will be able to take it out for the first time?

I work at the Raley's right there by the lake. The one on BlueRavine. You never know maybe I will run into you if you have to stop by for beverages for the boat!! :D

We went to the CSAA Office, quick & easy!! Actually took the boat to folsom today! It was a great afternoon. We are thinking of going back next Saturday, wondering how crowded it will be due to the holiday weekend... I will be stoping by Raley's next Saturday to pick up a birthday cake & some other stuff!

We have to go to DMV to register ours. We have lien sale papers to deal with. Yuck! LOL

Your so lucky to be able to go out. I can't get my hubby moving on the boat. Although, it sounds like he may try to get it in the garage to do the impeller sometime this week. I hope!! I have changed to cap and rotor myself. Will change to plugs once he is done messing with the cylinders. (He wants to put a bit more oil down them to make sure they are nice and lubed, they were frozen when we got the boat). I even installed the new starter, just to try to get things underway. LOL

We thought the drive was broken. It would go down, but not up. Today I lowered it all the way and realized that it has to be down so far for it to start going back up with the "UP" switch. Then it only went half way up. That is when I realized what the 'trailer' button is for! LOL I really need a manual. LOL I am eyeing one but just not sure if it is the right one for my drive. Anyway, it will probably be a couple more weekends before we get it out to the lake.

I don't work on weekends. Knock on wood! LOL Happy Birthday to whom ever it is!! :D

Oh, and I will ask my friend at work about Folsom and the Holiday. She is an avid boater so she should know! :D

Well, it is official! "The Boat" is legally ours!!! Hubby decided he wanted to go take care of the paperwork today, so we did and all went well!! I should have the pink in 6 months if I know DMV!! LOL Ok, probably not that long.

Now just to get him to work on the impeller and then take time off work to take her out!! That could take 6 months! LOL :D

Hi Myhrdly,

"Check the deck thoroughly for any spots that feel soft or spongy..... You have to realize it's a 24 year old boat that you have no idea how the previous owner stored or maintained it. There are many people on here that can testify (me being one of them) that older boats can have underlying issues under the deck...."

I had that boat, congratulations! Loved it...a whole lot of wonderful memories! It served us well when my kids were young, and fulfilled a boating dream of my own. One thing I remember when I sold it was there was weakness in the deck on the starboard side below the starboard transom seat where the kids would climb in the boat after tubing or water skiing and stand dripping wet. You might want to shore that up if that's a problem for you now; it'll only get worse. It may give out, especially if you use the boat as we did.

Wow, that is pretty awesome to actually run into someone that owned the boat before.

As far as spongyness or soft spots, I haven't found any! So I am guessing that any issues must have been repaired by previous owner? The boat feels pretty solid all the way around!
