Interluz on Aluminum Boat?

I have a 76 klamath that I would like to do the roll and tip method on using interlux paint. Is there any problem with doing this on aluminum? This will be for the outside of the boat and another concern of mine is the amount of rivets that I will have to roll over. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Interluz on Aluminum Boat?

I just rolled and tipped the bottom of my aluminum project boat and was happy with the results. There were a few runs at rivets, but I "tipped" them and they went away.

I used Easypoxy. The upper part of the hull will have to wait for spring, I ran out of season.

Good luck!

Re: Interluz on Aluminum Boat?

I did the inside of my Aluminum last year with Easypoxy. I started with Gluv-it to handle any leaks and I also used the recommended zinc chromate primer. Came out very nice. Some runs around the rivets, but same as Jim reports, tip out fine. Go with multiple THIN coats, all verticle surfaces will otherwise sag.
