Kainon, It is textured but is definatly not that rough. I would say just enough so it is not slippery when wet.

Re: Interior almost done

My new to me completly rebuilt 90 hp Johnson arrived today and I have my new top and front cover almost done. The side view looks a little strange because I dont have the side windows cut out yet, waiting for the window vinyl to come in.

Sweet canvas dozer:D I'm jealous.

I plan on getting some canvas work done after everything else is finished. That 90hp Johnny is nearly the same motor we ran for years on a 20' aluminum rig. Great outboard. Good luck with it.:)

Re: Interior almost done

:) Jimbc, Thanks, I'm on a limited budget and had to do the canvas ourselves. The cheapest quote to have a new top and front cover made aroud here is about $1600.00. I bought 15 yards of 10oz sunbrella, all the snaps and professional snap tool, velcro and harware, as well as a rebuilt heavy duty industrial Singer sewing machine for $850.00 total. The Johnson I bought with complete controls, VRO tank etc. from a Marine shop in Winnipeg. The power head is completly rebuilt, new seals and water pump in L/U and waranty for $2800.00. After two weeks on the computer searching for this type of motor this was the best deal I could find with the best after sales service promised. The only problem is Winnipeg is an 18 hour return trip.

:) HA . Thanks again I have heard lots of good stuff about these O/B's glad to hear some more. I can't believe how expensive canvas work is, as said above, I wouldn't pay it. It is really not that hard to do, I had the old top for the main patterns, just had to modify them slightly beacause I wanted the new top to go all the way back to the top of the engine well. I had no cover for the open bow so I had to make a pattern for that, over all it took approximatly 22 hours to do all the canvas work, and I figure once the vinyl arrives for the windows I will have about 6 more hours to go.

Excellent work on the canvas. Looks pro. I think that motor was a smart buy. I have an '81 Evinrude 90 and a buddy of mine just bought a boat with a '90 Johnson 90. Very dependable motors with great parts support. Your 16' will fly with it. Mine pushes my 18' to 39MPH.

Re: Interior almost done

Thanks EZ, Wow if the 90 pushes your 18' that fast I'm wondering how fast the 16' will be. What is the 18' rated for max size? I am sure glad everyone says it is a good motor, I think it will look a lot better on the back of the SS than the black thing did anyhow.

Re: Interior almost done

Believe it or not my SS is rated for 150! I didn't expect the 90 to push it as well as it does. My 16' Jupiter was rated for 85 and I had an 85 on it. It only did 34-35MPH. However it always felt like it was plowing a little bit and clearly needed some work on its setup (prop, motor height, etc). We only had the SS out one time before I tore it apart but it absolutely glides over the water. It produced like NO wake. Check out the videos in my photobucket album here to see the 90 in action http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w200/ezmobee/New Boat/?start=20

Thanks EZ I watched the video before but will watch it again. What size prop do you have, mine came with a 14x17, I have no idea if this even close to what I need.

Re: Interior almost done

I can't wait to get my SS on the water either:D

Don't you have any big rivers up there that are flowing dozer?

That's my only option here during the cold months:)

Re: Interior almost done

H.A. No flowing water yet. The weather was great for a week and a half, got all the way to + 15 C then yeaterday the temp dropped and it started snowning again. Today the high is only -5 C , but is supposed to warm up again next week. Winter is getting real old, real fast this year. There is an old wives tale here that 90 days after a foggy morning we can expect rain, and over the last six to eight weeks we have had at least 30 days of fog. I am thinking I should maybe keep the boat loose on the trailer and fueled up so we can float away when all this rain comes.

Dozer Nice Work. What material did you cover the counsel tops with and what for the frame beloe them?? I just striped a S/S 16 and hope to have the floor in in a few days and start on the top. I have a real decision on painting. Do I do it. Or farm it out. Did you have to paint yours? the org boat looked pretty nice .(puget sound )

Re: Interior almost done

Thanks Pugetsound, The counsols were covered with brown vinyl from the factory and in decent shape so I just left them. Is the frame work you are talking about under the left side counsol? If so that is storage for Plano tackle boxes, using four Staples Office supplies plastic magazine racks.
These are the holder I used, thehold a standard Plano 9 x14x 2" tackle holder perfectly, used a couple pieces of aluminum with pop rivits to hold four of them together and mounted under the dash out of the way.

Re: Interior almost done

Dozer, looking at your front deck I noticed but can't see in detail fasteners you used at the edge to hold to brackets. What did you use for fasteners and how thick is your plywood?
Thanks

Re: Interior almost done

MMF, I used 5/8 plywood, with a 10 inch wide doubler cross way in the center under the seat base. Then I cut two pieces identical to run vertically between the casting deck and the floor, they are glued and screwed to the cross ways doubler. The deck is fastened down with stainless screws fender washers and fiber lock nuts.
