I have a 2000 Crownline 180br which I would like to remove the carpet from. The subfloor is wood, not fiberglass. I have done some reading on this topic, but I'm a little confused about the steps. Remove interior, pull up carpet, remove glue and sand. Simple enough. Its after that where I'm unsure. I have read about resin, epoxy, fiberglass, gelcoat... I'm recovering it with Sea Dek, so I don't think I would need the fiberglass / silica step??? So would I just do an epoxy and then roll on coats of gelcoat? You will only see the thin lines in between the Sea Dek panels, but I want it to look good. Also, has anyone ever had this done professionally? Cost? Just in case I'm biting off more than I can chew. Thanks!!

Welcome to iBoats . . . :D

Sounds like you are confusing other methods of re-finishing a cockpit floor with a seadek method.

First of all, you will need to make sure the existing floor is in very good shape, and is not retaining moisture. Then you will need to seal the wood somehow . . . That may be where you are reading about resin, fiberglass, etc.

What does seadek instructional materials say about applying over wood?

Im with Froggy here. your crownline should have had fiberglass encapsulated wood core for a deck.

Is this a new to you boat?
