Recently purchased a 1980, 25hp XD, it had no kill switch.I purchased the original kill switch on ebay with the appropriate hardware to keep it all original. Need guidance on it's installation, with pics perhaps, thanks.

I can't upload my pic of the tether switch. Here is how it mounts if you are looking at the front of the motor. On the left side opposite the tiller in the bottom cowling is a removable black plastic piece it mounts in there towards the front of it. You should have 2 wires one black with a yellow stripe goes to the switch box and the black one goes to ground just match up the wire colors and good to go. Also change your water pump that motor is almost un-rebuildable/cost prohibitive and most of the burned up ones I find is because the waterpumps have not been changed. Other than that they are a great motor.

So the yellow and black wire plugs into the right side of the motor where there are 3 to 4 waterproof junctions? Just find the yellow and black and plug into it? I'll post a pic if I have difficulty, are the water pumps difficult to replace? I found a YouTube video on it, but once your in it you find it's not as easy as on camera, can't seem to locate a service manual.

On the switch box is a matching wire plug into that. The water pump is easy the shifting linkage disconnects behind the carb then the lower unit bolts. Definitely get a manual seloc and clymer make ok ones the seloc is better or the factory manual which is more expensive.
