Taking out the old rusted sending unit in my tank I realized water was entering the tank from under it.The screw holes in the plastic(actually embedded nuts were rotted and of little use. Will 3m 5200 and self tapping screws into the plastic itself suffice to anchor the nes sending unit?

5200 takes a week to cure. when cured i don't know if you can get a screw into it. may crack the plastic around it. you will never get it out if you do it before it cures.

Instead I drilled out the bad inserts and will use SS screws which will penetrate the the tank. A good sugestion on a sealer would be appreciated. Gasket sealer with teflon? avaition? Iwill need to apply a gasket compound or type of sealant around the sending unit itself as well as the screws holding it inplace. This is necessary due to the low spot on the top of the tank where the sender is, water collects there.

Normally the rubber gasket around the sender is waterproof.

I have been trying to think of a method to eliminate the low spot in the tank, but do not yet have a solution. I had thought of building a temporary frame around the sender and then filling it with pour in foam, but that has problems as well.
