Installing lower unit on 1990 115 hp Merc

Is there any special trick to help you line up the water tube seal on the water tube as you push the lower unit into place? I changed out my water pump and I'm confident that it's working but when I re-mount the lower unit, I think the water tube seal is slipping off to the side of the water tube, so it's not peeing out the tell tale.

I can't seem to get a visual on the alignment and still be able to push the lower unit up into place at the same time.

Any tricks or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have been through this a dozen time, replacing the lower unit. The only way I could find is have a friend to help one to slid the lower unit up the other with a flashlight, and something small like a long pice of wire to guide the tube in has it is being slid up.
