I want to do something nice for my husband for his birthday, so I purchased 4 Tuff LED lights to install on our boat, for task lighting and having additional light to see stuff. The lights are just that, a light with two wiresboat light.jpg. I will not be installing the lights on the boat for him, partly because I would never install them in the exact correct space, so I was thinking of the gift being a kit of all the things he needs in order to complete the install. So I have two questions...
1. what else do I need to get to complete the install? Oh an please be as specific as possible, I am a girl...

2. if you have completed a similar project, can you share your experiences with how you may have used a product similar to this or had any clever mounting techniques

There is a lot of info available for the LED strip lights, but not much in the line of this type of light, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think the answer is, "It depends on where you want to install them, where power is available relative to the installation, how you want to turn them on and off. Their web site has a universal wire harness listed.

Those light are going to be supper bright. Are you planning to light areas outside the boat?

So you are right with the it depends. There is a console near the middle of the boat, where I think we could store an extra battery solely dedicated to the lights, and then use some extra switches that we have in the console for the on/off switches.

This is a pretty decent sized pontoon boat that has a front deck that we use to fish off of, so I would assume that we could use to light inside and outside of the boat.

Thanks for the reference to the harness kit...that looks like it is a good start to what I may need to get to supplement the lights.

Re: Install LED Tuff Lights on Boat

:welcome: to iboats

The lights draw 1.25 amps each, four will draw 5 amps so unless you plan to turn them on while the engine is off for quite a while you might be ok without another battery. Adding another battery is always in my opinion a good thing but may not be necessary. As Brian mentioned they will be bright so may connect using more then one switch. Maybe one from the front and one for the rear or side. If your engine is an outboard the amount of amps available for recharge may be an issue over long term of non-running but would need more info on the setup

Thanks for the welcome...and yes, that is a good idea to have more than one switch. Thanks!
