Hey guys, newbie here. Me and my wife are getting ready to purchase a 2007 Q6 F&S and I was just wondering if 15500 was a decent price or are we getting shafted. The guy actually owes more than this on the boat so I thought it was an ok price. This will be our first ski boat of our own. It has the 190hp engine. Is this big enough to tow skiers good? Any input on this boat will be appreciated.

Thanks

i have a 2010 q7 FS which is a 20 1/2 feet. with a v8 220. not sure how much difference 30 HP would make. i have heard that the 190 is fine for the q4. but that?s about 3 feet less than the Q6 and Q7... I think. Make sure you look it up in the NADA blue book to get what they are going for. it looks like they go for 11000 on low and 13000 on the high end and that?s with out imputing any accessories. Looks like he is trying hard to get out underneath it. if its in good shape and its the boat you WANT, id show up with a check for 12000 and see if he takes it.

Hey thanks for replying. I would see if he could come down more but come to find out he owes 23k still on the boat so 15500 is stealing it from him IMO. Average retail NADA is about 18k suggested retail was 23k:confused:. Anyways we are going with check in hand to look at it tmrw.

I have that exact boat... bought it used 18 months ago for $16,000 including trailer. I have the 190 V6. I pull 2 skiers, one fat one (me) on slalom. Top end is 45 or 46 mph with a 4 blade 19" pitch aluminum prop. I love this boat. All I've added to it are smart tabs - they hold the nose down and allow it to pop up on plane quicker. My wife loves it too! Nice ride... this boat's big enough and a deep V hull to ride through other boat's wakes without wallowing.

I have a 2008 q6 I bought in 09 brand new for right at 20k. I wouldn't pay that much for the boat or even 1500 for a 2006. It's an okay boat, but won't buy another Tahoe. I have the 190 hp as well but I find it to be under powered with four people in the boat and trying to tow a tube. But if it's what you like then just do what makes you feel good. I haven't had any issues with the boat mechanically. (fingers crossed)

Re: Input on 2007 Q6 FS

Update: We went to look at boat this weekend and it is a very good looking boat. We took it out on the water and ran it around for awhile. We got almost back to the ramp and I put it in neutral and it died!! It would not crank back up. Needless to say I didn't hand him the check. The motor looked brand new(4.3L 190hp mercruiser) He is takin to shop to get it checked out today. Any ideas what happened??? Thanks

Re: Input on 2007 Q6 FS

Could be the neutral interrupt switch - When shifting into neutral the torque of the engine acts to prevent the gears from uncoupling... so, to assist a shift into neutral, the shifting cable is attached to the shifting arm through the shift interrupt switch. As the shift cable pulls on the shift lever the interrupt switch cuts off the ignition circuit of the engine momentarily... with the engine torque gone the shift is completed... and if working correctly the interrupt switch opens before the engine dies. If there's any stiffness in the switch... rust, corrosion, lack of lubrication, etc... it may have stuck in the off position. Search the mercruiser forum for shift interrupt... then go be a hero and fix the boat - and take $500 off of your offer!

Re: Input on 2007 Q6 FS

Well talked to the guy today and the mechanic sprayed some carb cleaner in carb and added about 5 gallons of fresh gas then motor fired right up and ran for 20 to 30 minutes. Said it was prolly old gas or bad gas. He did leave gas in it from last summer without stabil or anything so maybe this was the problem. I really don't know much about this issue so could this be the case with it not starting back up after running or what? He said he would put it back in water and let us ride around again for good measure. I just don't know what to do at this point. I really like the looks of the boat but i just have questions about this 4.3L 190hp carb engine.

I have a Q7 with the 5.7 V8 and it is great. my Dad has a 215 with a 4.3 and it struggles to get going, especially with a few people in the boat.
