Sorry, was offline getting ready for a camping trip. It's just painted plywood. The snap cover I've seen is just a piece of vinyl with snaps. Should keep the girls out.

I'm trying to find that snap cover. I see I have channels in the top of the compartment so I could put two sliders in I guess. I like your design though. I have a lot of plywood lying around that I could flex seal and maybe it'll last...
