Re: Inch by inch.. step by step..

Lookin real gud CC, but methinks there are a few in between pics missin here! As you know I am soaking up all I can SEE before I get into mine. How did you set and secure the gas tank and is the flooring sitting directly on the top of it?

One thing I can say is that your work is greatly increased by virtue of those wood seat bases and back panels. That is probably pretty standard in the industry. Fortunately my seat bases, front and rear, are each one piece molded fiberglass. My motor cover is also one piece molded fiberglass with a color gel coat and embossed pattern.

Keep up the good work and keep those pics a commin!

Merry Christmas!

Re: Inch by inch.. step by step..

Boomyal,
I've got tons of pics, just didn't want to post all of them here cause it's painful for the low speed connection folks. I'll probably pop a web page up in the near future and just stick them all up there.

Yup, the wood boxing has me doing the %$^*&% language. Especially glassing it all in, while dealing with the slight warp to the ply, keeping square, and making sure it fits to boot. So far it's pretty good.. worst place I'm out about 1/8 of an inch.

Gas tank is sitting on the hull, with rubber blocks under it between it and the hull. There's about 1/4-1/2" of clearance between the top of it and the deck. The bulkheading holds it in fore and aft. Between the tank top and the deck I put a small amount of 2 part foam in two places just to close the void and pin the tank in place. Since the tank had no brackets of any sort that was the best I could do, and was an improvement over the chooped glass stuffed beside the tank and a quart of resin poured in alongside that the factory did.

Thanks!
-Roger
Re: Inch by inch.. step by step..

I know what you mean re slow connection. I just switched to cable a year ago and wondered how I put up with dial up all those years. The internet has become an integral part of my family's existence.

That is some intricate bulwarking there. Really time consuming but you're doin a beeeautiful job.

I'm real curious about the setting of my tank. The spongy floor has actually dropped about a half inch over the tank. I don't know if it was set in foam and settled or if there was a void above the tank and the floor just settled into it. I've tried to concieve a way to move my tank forward to help offset the old V-8 and the usually rear biased passenger load but as in yours, the filler neck, vent and sending unit comes up behind the front of the engine cover.

By the by your pictures are excellent. What are you shooting with and what are u using for lighting. When I've tried incandescent lights everything comes out dark yellowish.

Boomyal,
It's a old 1.2 megapixel Kodak DC260 that was bought about 6 years ago... Was like $900 then and "all that" Still works great though, so until it pukes, I'm using it! :D . Garage has 8 flourecent lights in it, so it's pretty bright..

-Roger

Lookin good CCrew! ;)

so by the comments in yoru other post the foaming went ok. I'm looking at foaming one of my projects tomorrow. Kind of unsure/intrigued how it will go. I'd like to have ideal conditions, but ambient temperature is going to be my biggest concern.

always nice to see more project pics. keep us up to date when you get some on a website.
