Does anyone out there know where I can purchase a Good Used or Remanf. Borg Warner (Velvet Drive) 71 Series, 1:1 ratio Transmission. Thanks in advance.

Re: Inboard Transmission

Thanks for the help everyone. Found a Model 71C, 1:1 on E bay. Don't have a cooler though. Can I use an air cooler,or something similar, used on a car or truck? The water cooler (pictures I've seen) seems quite small which suggests not much cooling is required?

Re: Inboard Transmission

As far as the cooling issue, mine used a pumped sea water cooler, water temp is always low 40-65 degrees. An air type cooler, you would have to force air through the cooler, what about when you're in a no wake zone, not much air?
Just a thought.

Oil coolers, Water, Not air, are on ebay All the Time..... CHEAP..!!!
You'd be better off with a jury-rigged water/ oil cooler, than a air/ oil cooler.....
Merc. P/Steering coolers are easy to find,+ will no doubt be big enough....

Water/oil type coolers are smaller because they are more efficient.... If you think you might have fluid cooling issues with the 71-C, install a sensor and a warning buzzer or a temp gauge....
