Inboard “transmission “ model and oil

Any idea the make on this “transmission “. Not sure you call it that. 1980 ChrisCraft 170SS.

Also what oil does it take and what is procedure for checking oil level? Engine on or off? Current Fluid looks like transmission fluid.

Looks like a paragon, can't say on which model. Google might help with the numbers

Some paragon transmissions use type f atf.
