I have a bad starter for a 2000 merc EFI 5.7 Centurion. and was wondering where to find a good one for a decent price. I saw some on Ebay for 53.00 DB Electrical any one heard of this company. part number is Delco 9000840. Any suggestions will help. Thanks Andy.

Re: In need of a starter

I put a DB Electrical starter on my 4.3LX a couple weeks back. Price was around 50 bucks plus shipping, no core or return charges. Fit and worked great, people were very helpful. We'll see if it holds up, but the price can't be beat (as long as you don't mind installing starters).

it better be a marine starter or your boat will go boom and insurance wont cover damage or death

Re: In need of a starter

Find a repair shop that rebuilds starters and altenators, and have them rebuild it. If all it needs is brushes and bushings it shouldn't cost that much. If the ammature is bad then that will cost. But have them test it and tell you what it needs. I just rebuilt the starter on my outboard(a $160-$180 starter) for $6 at the end of April.

I'm not sure what the OP is looking at, but DB electrical does offer marine starters. I put one of their starters on my VP 5.7 about a month ago and it has been working great.
