Re: Imron Paint
Pettit and Interlux do make paints that are more user friendly.
They offer enamels, one part poyurethane products (No catalyst, "urethane enhanced enamels"), and two part polyurethanes. Hard, harder and hardest (Emron is a two par urethane).
Each of these companies and others also offer professional lines of products. Emron is a professional product.
None of these products will cover up any dings or etching in the gel coat or fiberglass. A primer would be used to fill and prep the surface before you apply the finish. A professonal friend once told me that spraying two part urethane was like spraying water, if you got it right it covered and did not run. For the most part, you cannot spot these products to touch up mistakes.
None of these will stick unless the surface is properly prepared and clean.
The most forgiving are the basic enamels then the one parts and then the two parts.
As mentioned, the two part products have higher end thinners and you really do not want to be sloppy about them. Read the instructions.
If you really want to do this, I would suggest you read the instructions of the products very carefully. Decide which you want and then practice with a small amount before you get into the whole boat.
I would also price some professional services.
Remember, above the waterline, a basic enamel properly applied will give you years of good service.
The one parts are not too much more difficult.
Good Luck!
