Re: IMPORTANT HEALTH QUESTION

Thike Pike and Walleye are bad in some areas. Mainly the further North you go the worse they get. For the most part though it is only recomended to eat 1 meal of either per week, as well some areas DNR says not to eat from at all, mostly near old mining and logging areas.

Re: IMPORTANT HEALTH QUESTION

In area flooded for hydo dev't in Nfld. there has been found elevated levels of cadmium, a toxic metal in wild arctic char. This is not due to pollution. The metal is natural and builds up in the food chain. The flora that is flooded contains a little which is concentrated as the small animals are eaten by the bigger ones, etc. That is the only problem I've heard of in this Province and only in that species in those environments.

Re: IMPORTANT HEALTH QUESTION

Here it is mostly pollution problems. There's a big scare a few miles down the Detroit River, oil spill. It's being estimated around 10,000 gallons. The source has yet to be determined. Go figure weather get's nice and someone goes and dumps industrial waiste in the waterways.

Large Pike and Walleye are some of our bigger problems for pollution. Not many people fish for or eat the Pike , so we have some great areas to fish for them.

Re: IMPORTANT HEALTH QUESTION

It's common knowledge that fish is good for you.(catching and eating). Salmon, Sashimi etc. you could live off that stuff.
