impeller

while working on my 3.0 for a no start problem it started. the problem was i didn't have any ears on it and i ran it for about a minute will that hurt the impeller? <br />and how do i change it? thanks....

Yes, one minute is plenty of time for a dry impeller to get chewed-up.<br />The impeller is in the lower unit. The lower unit must be removed to get at it. The job sounds worse than it really is. My advise is,get the shop manual for your particular engine. It will pay for itself on the one job, as opposed to not having it.

Oh...3.0? That's probably a Volvo Penta? Never mind about the lower unit if it is.
