I am currently under going replacing the impeller in the lower gearcase. My problem is the gear case is stuck to the exhaust housing... are there any tips or tricks that I can do because it just does not want to come off. I have removed the 4 bolts connecting it to the exhaust housing. Are there any other bolts that need to be removed, maybe some I can't see? Anything I need to look out for or big "no no's" Please get back - would like to go boating this weekend

Questions-
Are there any tips/tricks I can do to remove it or aid in removing it?
Are there any big no no's I should definitely not do?

What motor are you working on. Posting a model number of your motor would greatly help us answer your questions.

Sometimes there is another bolt under the sacrificial zink anode (trim tab).
I think this engine also has it.

Don't forget to disconnect the blue and green wires going to the g/c.

Make sure you put the gear in reverse and disconnect the shifter rod. There should put 4 lower unit bolts and then 2 more longer bolts.

There is no shifter rod, it is an electro-hydraulic shifter.
Disconnect the wires as suggested by boobie.

I'd say that quality's as bad. Couldn't find a break in the wires to pull them apart from the electric shift so I just pulled the electric shift completely out. Wasn't the most fun thing to do but it worked.

The connectors for the shift wires are on the starboard side of the motor inside of what looks like shrink wrap. You slide the shrink wrap to be able to release the knife connectors. When I do mine, I tie a piece of string to the wires as I drop the lower unit so I can get them back up on reassembly. Not sure how you got it apart, good luck getting it back together.
