88 alpha 1 gen 1 replaced inpeller "wasnt one" was completly wore out!! havent bolted gear housing back up yet,but i noticed when i installed impeller i could freely turn shaft to seat impeller in housing . now that its back together i cant turn shaft in either direction, but i can turn the shift selector to foward or reverse, when i turn the prop by hand the shaft doesnt turn and the prop will stop in either selected position.. if that makes any sense to yall, remember the gear housing hasnt been bolted back up yet. its in the garage!!! what went wrong????

Put some dish liquid on the impeller and see if it turns easier.

Assuming you put the pump together properly, it won't require a pipe wrench, but it does take more than 2 fingers turn the shaft with the impeller installed.

Did you chase the pieces of the old impeller down? Most end up in the heat exchanger and some in the thermostat housing. If you don't get ALL of them you will probably have overheating problems.

Sounds like it's working. 15-20 min is usually what it takes to cycle the thermostat a few times.

Spelling and punctuation was discussed in this thread over a week ago. There is no reason I can see to start it over again.
