Impeller puller screw

I have a V8-380/DPS EVC-E engine and I want to replace the impeller. I have the replacement kit, part #21700445. I know you can just lever these out with screwdrivers, however I'd like to buy a puller screw to do the job. I've seen some for Volvo diesel engines and also for other makes, but haven't seen one specific for my pump. The thread on the impeller is 3/4" diameter, so I'm sure some of the ones online will suffice. Does anyone know which tool / part # will work?

grab a needle nose pliers and just pull out once you have the cover off.

Yes, I know that can be done. I would just like the puller screw to have on the boat in the event I'm stuck on the water and can't get the impeller off! They seem to be cheap, but knowing which one to buy is the issue.

then simply get a leatherman tool. everything you need for a field repair on a volvo penta pump. I used to carry tools and spare parts. then I realized i am haulling around about 140# of stuff. so now I simply have the boat US towing card in the key fob.

In some cases, there is no room for a puller. I took the impeller to the hardware store, and found a regular bolt to use for the job. using a screwdriver can damage the housing.

robyar there is no threaded hole on the impeller that you quote 21700445. the centre is a bi-hex. Needle nose pliers work perfectly with no chance of damage.

The Volvo tool p/n 3843948 works great, also works in tight quarters. Bought mine years ago, think it was under $10

Using Muc's info, I found a Volvo Penta Parts Bulletin describing the "Impeller Removal Tool".
I don't think I can post a link due to rules.
The Parts Bulletin is Group# P-08-2, Number# 1, Version# 01, Dated 03-2006
There are three part numbers available.

I'm prepping for a full summer with our new VP SX 4.3 250 hp. ...only got 20 hrs on it late last year. The OM states to carry a spare impeller and change it annually. I will. Apparently inboard impellers don't last as long as the outdrive impeller on my old Alpha Gen II. My pal changes three each year in his big boat.
But I don't mind. The VP impeller looks like a snap compared the to Merc's. I was watching some You Tube on the process. A guy twice a big as me threw up his hands and bought a 3/4 bolt to get it out. He mentioned the tool, and a Google search led me back home here. .....thanks for the link.

I think you will find the VP hold up fairly well. Most of my neighbors with VPs are getting over 6 years on them in typical lake boat use.

Good to know. We are on the upper Mississippi. We occasionally pump a little sand when beaching on a sand bar. I'll get a spare impeller, but hope I get some temp gage warning when it's due for replacement. If the pump isn't below the waterline, it's too close for comfort. Definitely looks like a job for on the lift or trailer.
