If you lost the old key you do not have a way to know if one that you get matches it. Plus, the material difference could be an issue. Keep in mind that a key that "fits" may not fit correctly and may shear or destroy the inner plastic sleeve of the impeller. For a $2.00 part it's just not worth the risk. That's not to say that I wouldn't do it myself in an emergency, but this isn't an emergency.
