Re: impellar installation

Alot of the older motors won't pump water on muffs - the lower units need to be submerged in water because the pump is not self-priming. You don't say what motor you have?

Put your hand on the cylinder head. If it's too hot to keep your hand there. it's overheating. Should be ~ 140 to 150? F.

Your engine should have a tell-tale on it, if no water is coming out of the tell-tale, I would suspect that you have a pump problem. I would drop the lower unit and recheck the pump instillation.

Re: impellar installation

Before you pull the lower unit, get that lower unit in a barrel and try again. Fill the water level up to the lower mounts, or higher and fire it up. If it still shows no tell tale, then pull the thermostat and fire it up again. If you still see no water, then pull your lower unit and make sure that the water tube stabbed properly into the impeller housing and also make sure the drive key for the impeller didn't fall out of the drive shaft.
