Lake Powell thru the 10th . . . Catch you guys on the flip side :D

Parting thought/question: Something has been bugging me . . . Why have George W. Bush (a conservative), Tony Blair (liberal to our standards and now gone), John Howard (liberal to our standards) and now Gordon Brown (a Blair and Bush basher in the past), ALL supported the war in Iraq, and the War on Terror to ALL of their political peril while in office? I have a theory, wonder what your thoughts might be?

First off, Have a blast. :)

My theory is that some politicians actually pay no attention to polls, and act upon issues using their own moral compass. This isn't always a good thing, but I have more respect for those who "do the will of the people".
That is their job in a representative republic.

I agree with 12er. Think of the greatest man in the last century: Sir Winston Churchill, or another Great from an earlier Century: Abe Lincoln. Ya really don't think politics or polls got in the way of truly Great STATESMEN who actually did what had to be done do ya? The USA would not be here or in the form it is, (the world too) without both of these GREAT MEN.

The current domesitc DEMs are as terrible 'statesmen n' women' as we have ever had in the short history of this Great Nation. I'm fairly sure no current domestic Democrat Pres candidate could ever be a British PM, (were they Brits). Could ya imagine a treasonist pig like the one who got more Democrat votes then any Democrat in history ever getting the chance in Britian?? I sure can not. JR
BTW: have a blast!!!!

What bothers me is the constant drilling by Bushies about the war in Iraq equating to the war on terror. Haven't we all realized by now that the war in Iraq has done FAR more to feed the monster than to quell it? The war in Iraq had nothing to do with Terrorism. It had everything to do with Agenda. And now we have no light at the end of the tunnel.

Have fun and watch out for Diesel Walt. ;)

I'm waiting in Vegas for a Roll-away for one of the kids. Nothin' else to do.

Here's my simple theory of why career liberal politicians chuck their careers and instantly become "conservative" when it comes to bad guys: they ALL know something we don't know ;)

BTW, I brought the laptop for Houseboat Movie Night, not to yak with you guys. I am not that sick . . . :D We hang a sheet on the side of the rental houseboat, run extension cords to an LCD projector and all the kids with popcorn etc. watch something classic :)

To the question at hand-
I suppose it is because they are not the same as their snivelling, cowardly counterparts here in the US.

Did anybody notice that ol' slickwilly didn't address the question, but instead took an opportunity to bush bash....

That's the one thing that has always bothered me.

I think Tony Blair is a bright, articulate, accomplished world leader.

What was his thinking, and how could he possibly think it a good idea to go into Iraq with so little planning regarding the potential and probable consequences? These risks were well known before hand and many people, including Bush 41 and his administration, knew them well.

Blair must have known them as well.

Perhaps he will write a book to clarify how he decided to think all the former experts were wrong, even as they proved to be correct.

I simply expected better from Blair--he had to know better! Please, Mr Blair explain it to us!
