Let me state that I'm not affiliated in any way with BoatUS, but my 5-years with them have been positive. I filed one claim with them at this time last year and it was pretty painless.
What I'm wondering about is this....
BEFORE every potential storm event, I always receive an e-mail reminding me that they'll pay half the cost of a haul-out. They also include instructions for submitting the claim.
The day AFTER Sandy (and Irene last year), I received another e-mail with specific instructions for submitting damage claims, steps to take to limit any damage that occurred (like pickling submerged engines and such), and a reminder not to sign with any salvage company before contacting them.
Now, I've gotten diddly-squat from my homeowner's insurance carrier (Nationwide) or my auto insurance carrier (GEICO) either before or after a major storm, so it got me thinking.
Do other boat insurers send the notifications that BoatUS does?
