I found a tritoon Bennington that I test drove on the lake of the ozarks, boat ran like a dream. Trailered back to independence Missouri, the next day I put 26 dollars of 91 octane has from quick trip, and Trailered it to smithville lake. In total, Trailered time approximately 4 hours max. The boat ran great for about 30 minutes at smithville, then the motor just died. Started it back up, runs for about 30ish seconds and stops. I'm at a loss. Any ideas of where to start? Kill switch? The only thing that I'm positive about is that the pump is still good.

What year Merc?

Does it stay running at idle and shut off when you rev it, or just it just fire up and then die?

When you say you are positive the pump still works, are you talking the water pump or the fuel pump?

When I start the motor, it will run for 30ish seconds and shut off. The fuel pump is what I was referring to, it still dies even if I squeeze the bulb while running. When I Rev the motor in neutral it spits and sputters and then dies.

You're saying after the gas purchase it appears this problem surfaced?
I would then suspect bad gas, water in the tank. Investigate that.
Then the problem becomes is the fuel purchase just a coincidence.
It's a used boat, maintenance is unknown.
So, next, check/ replace fuel filter. Does the boat have a fuel/water separator? Check it.
Does the bulb get firm? If not , replace it.
That's the easy stuff, my opinion.
Next comes fuel pump troubleshooting. Fuel lines leaking air. It's an '07, right? 17 years old?.
After fuel supply troubleshooting comes ignition stuff...plugs, wires, etc..
weird things have happened in my years of fix'in stuff.
Had a friend's 40 hp 2 stroke merc. not wanting to run. Drove me nuts. Finally figured out that the motor cover had foam sound insulation that was semi -disintegrating and getting sucked into the carbs.
So, like I said , it's a used boat.

Good advice here. If you go through all the steps that jlh posted and it is still an issue (which I doubt it will be), then you will need to look at the electrical side of things. But go the fuel route first.
