I have a 1995 Seaswirl 5.8l FI OMC Cobra I/O. The motor starts but will not shut-off when key is turned to off and even removed.
Last year, I had alternator rebuilt and screwed up when replacing ... Got wires crossed and melted the insulation on the purple wire. Corrected and everything ran OK. Started the motor a couple of times yesterday but the 3rd time I got the no shut-off condition.
The wiring harness routing looks pretty complex but thinking that's what I need to replace but would rather not if I can fix with just an ignition switch replacement. If I do that and all works, am I creating other problems due to no insulation on purple wire at alternator?
Thanks in advance
