I have looked everywhere on the web for the electric/ignition service manual for a 1997 VP 4.3GL.
I have power but no spark coming out of the ignition coil.

You didn't provide a serial number so I can't be sure. But I'm guessing you have the prestolite BID ignition system. The weak point we saw on these was module overheating. This system doesn't like people who leave the key on when the engine isn't running and warns the operator in the owners manual not to do that. Unfortunately most owners and none of the stereo installers read the owners manual. So people leave the key on and burn out the module.
Surprised the Volvo dealer you talked to wasn't able to help. The manual you're looking for is
#7743454
WORKSHOP MANUAL, ELECTRICAL, CARBURETOR & IGNITION

It has some very good troubleshooting in it and will walk you thru the steps.
If your module is bad, I don't think it's available anymore. Pertronix did make a conversion kit for them (I never used them so can't comment) but we always converted to the Delco EST system that was used in later years.

Yes, that is the one i need but only found it on ebay for $250.
Module was replaced as was everything else, literally.
12.4 volts (purple) to brand new ignition coil, 12.2 volts (pink) to connector.going to distributer. No spark coming out of coil or cap.
Any help would be awesome!
Thanks!

Pink wire is a EST color. What ignition system do you have?

you can use the link that Don S has provided to troubleshoot this problem.

keep in mine that most distributor modules from the auto parts store or Amazon won’t work for you. usually they need to be marine specific.

By the way the GM coil is much cheaper and all you need to do is grind off the rivets to put the bracket on the new coil with nuts and bolts
