Ignition Problem on outboard motor

Please help me troubleshoot ignition problem. 1993 Mercury outboard with electronic ignition. Will not start. I have plenty of spark at plugs, full tank of gas. Please advise as to what other things I should be checking and doing. Please respond in layman's terms. I am not a mechanic. Thanks.

While trying to start it, spray some WD40 into the carb. If it starts or coughs, it's fuel-related.<br />If nothing, it's ignition related.<br />Let us know which,and you will be on the water in no time.
