ignition problem help

well to start out i lost my key to my johnson 35 hp so i bought a new switch but the wiring diagram shows 6 wires i only have 5 so i hooked it up per the pack but nothing can someone please help oh yea its a 79 sea horse

you have the wrong switch. you need 5 connector. OMC switch.
